Echocardiographic view – Cardiology MCQ

c. Parasternal long axis view

Parasternal long axis view is obtained by placing the transducer in the left parasternal region and directing the imaging plane in such a way that it images the heart in the base to apex axis (long axis). The left ventricle, left atrium, aorta and part of the right ventricle are imaged in this view. This is often the first view obtained during echocardiographic evaluation of an adult.
